OpeningUp.net Updates

Many of you noticed when we took the site down in early December to do some work on it. The good news is that we're back up, and everything is working great! Between the server move and a backup failure, though, we are missing some data. If you or your organization were on the site and you can't find your listing, please let Raymond know as soon as possible so he can fix it.

I'm so glad to have so many professionals and organizations represented in the resource section of this site. Please don't hesitate to email Sarah or I with your additions!

CNN asks if monogamy is realistic

To my great pleasure, CNN recently ran an article about whether it was realistic for people to be locked in to monogamy as their only relationship option. I was really pleased that, while much of it focused on non-monogamy as a more realistic way to deal with the impulses towards infidelity, the authors interviewed discussed polyamory as being a healthy, productive way to engage in relationships. Check it out for yourself over at CNN's website.

Upcoming Events

Two nationally-known events are coming up in October, and I wanted to make sure to let you all know about them!

October 8-10 is the Tenth Annual Poly Pride weekend in New York City, hosted by Poly NYC. Starting with a cuddle party on Friday night, followed by the Poly Pride Rally in Central Park on Saturday, and then on to the Infinity Party on Saturday night and a conference on Sunday, Poly Pride offers a weekend of fun, activism, and education. Interested? You can visit their website for more information.

On the other coast, Poly Living Seattle is scheduled for October 22-24, 2010, and has just announced that the fantastic Dossie Easton, author of The Ethical Slut, will be their keynote speaker! Registration is still open for their wonderful weekend event, filled with classes, workshops, networking, and fun! Check out the Polyliving.org website for more information.

Poly Friendly Dating Sites

Recently, someone wrote to me and asked if I knew of any good online dating sites (specifically in the NY Tri-State Area) for polyamorous folks. They tried okcupid.com (which is poly-friendly) and wanted some other suggestions. My buddies on Facebook and Twitter suggested the following sites, so I thought I’d share them:

Geek To Geek
Plentyoffish.com
Blackboxuniverse.com
Lifestylelounge.com
Howaboutwe.com
Poly-NYC.com/personals.html
Polymatchmaker.com
